LINKIN PARK PROJEKT REVOLUTION TOUR OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED
Linkin Park’s Projekt Revolution tour was officially announced, at a press conference in NYC featuring performers My Chem’s Gerard and Taking Back Sunday. |
Linkin Park officially announced their Projekt Revolution tour for 2007 on Monday, May 7 at New York City’s Museum of Radio & Television. The band announced at a press conference that the tour will also feature My Chemical Romance, Placebo, Taking Back Sunday, H.I.M. and Julien-K as mainstage acts. Saosin, Mindless Self Indulgence, and The Bled will be among those featured on the second stage. |
Linkin Park is touring in support of their soon-to-be-released album Minutes To Midnight, and vocalist Chester Bennington called this year’s Projekt Revolution the best ever. |
“This is probably in my opinion the best Projekt Revolution to date just simply because all the bands are really exciting. They all bring something diverse and something interesting to the tour, but I think most of all I’ve heard from everyone that’s either worked with the bands or from the band members themselves that the people in the bands and the crews are all around amazing people and can’t wait to get out there and destroy everything in their path.” |
My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way and Taking Back Sunday’s Adam Lazzara and Matt Rubano talked about the decision to spend their summer with labelmates Linkin Park on Projekt Revolution. |
[Way] “It was totally a no-brainer. This is a band that we have a tremendous amount of respect for, especially with the way they do things, and they have a vision — just like our band and just like Taking Back Sunday. So it was a no-brainer. We thought it would be a great way to spend our whole summer.” [Lazzara] “Yeah, and I mean we were sitting around just trying to figure out what to do with the summer. Originally we were just going to go to the beach in North Carolina, but…” [Rubano] “This is a better plan. Summer tours have got to be big. Summer tours have always got to be something pretty special, so when this came along it was the obvious choice to go with our buddies in My Chem and make new friends. The tour, like like Gerard and everyone’s been saying the tour looks like it will be really diverse and really different than tours that are like fifty of the same sounding kind of bands so this will be kind of cool in that respe |
While Linkin Park is claiming diversity for a rock show with Project Revolution, the Hip-Hop aspect of past tours has been de-emphasized this time around. Backstage with all three bands we asked Mike Shinoda, who brought those elements to the band in the past, about the tour shying away from hip-hop. |
“I heard somebody comment about there being less hip-hop on this tour than on past tours. Really, if I were to assume… Chester and Rob were the heads of our touring committee that kind of puts these things together, and when they put this list together and showed the rest of the band and said, ‘Hey this is what we’re thinking. What do you think?’ I think they knew that that might have been a reaction. But just like everything for us lateley, the record we were making and the songs that we were writing, let’s just go with what feels good. Let’s not overthink it. Let’s not try and stick a hip-hop group on the bill just to stick a hip-hop group on the bill. Let’s just look at it and go, ‘Would I go see the show.’ And I would. That’s the deciding factor, period.” |
