LINDSAY LOHAN USES CELEBRITY FOR GOOD CAUSE
Lindsay Lohan’s character in Bobby was inspired by a woman Emilio Estevez met at a hotel front desk while trying to cure his writer’s block. Lindsay says the woman told Emilio her story which he used to shape a young woman who marries a virtual stranger so he won’t be drafted to Vietnam. Lindsay best known for her partying ways wants to educate her fans through this role. |
The media darling who has splashed the cover of teen magazines ever since Parent Trap and has become a fixture on Page Six is taking a tip from her Bobby co-star Sharon Stone and wants to use her publicity for some good. |
“It was an amazing story. She was saving lives. She wanted to save these men’s lives and the fact that she was willing to take those risks of people judging her of what she was doing. I think that’s important especially with the war we’re going through right now. We’re at war. People are getting killed and people don’t do enough about it. We worry, we think about other things too much. And so this character was an opportunity for me to bring awareness to that.” |
Educating young people began with her younger sister 13 year old Ali who visited Lindsay on the set. Lindsay shared what she learned about Bobby Kennedy just from the film. |
“And for me to utilize the press that I have accumulated and the younger fans that I’ve gotten over time it’s worth it and why not put it out there to do something and stand up for yourself. For us to be in a position where we’re written about and we’re in these tabloids and people buy these magazines, instead of us talking and being written about going shopping and who we’re dating why not be a part of something that’s actually gonna send out a message? We’re living in this country. We might as well do something about it.” |
“And my sister went home and she’ll tell her friends about what she learned about Bobby Kennedy. He was like John Lennon in a way. He stood for peace and being one as a country and not treating people the way that people shouldn’t be treated and doing something about it, taking a stand. I think that’s so important and I think it’s important that young children know that at a young age. The more you program something into a kid’s head the more they’re gonna remember it and have that subconsciously in the back of their mind. I think that being part of a movie that can do that with me and my younger fan base I think I’m really blessed.” |
