Lil Mama pushes her debut back to October 30th….. |
Brooklyn-based rapper Lil Mama is working on her debut album, V.Y.P. (The Voice Of The Young People), which she will release later this year. The 17 year-old rapper is signed to Zomba-Jive Records and the first single from her project is “Lip Gloss.” The song was produced by James “Groove” Chambers and the remainder of the set features the production of Swizz Beatz, Green Lantern, Dame Grease, and Scram Jones. |
Lil Mama, who has been rapping for five years, shared how she got her name. The rapper said, |
“When I was a little girl my mother gave me the name Lil Mama as a nickanme. The name followed me through life like a little bug. Nah seriously it just stuck with me because my friends in the street, my brothers they were my peers. My brothers were my peers. So my friends, everybody knew me as Mama. When it came to doing rap and doing music, I kept my nickname Mama, Lil Mama and that’s what it is.” |
Lil Mama is a bonafide quadruple threat. The Brooklynite can rap, sing, write, and dance. |
