LARGE PROFESSOR STILL DEVELOPING TALENT
Rapper and producer Large Professor still going strong and developing new talent….. |
Large Professor began his career as a member of Main Source in the early ’90s and the group enjoyed some success with hits like “Looking At The Front Door” and “Fakin’ The Funk” before disbanding in the mid-90s. The rapper and producer went on to pursue a solo a career but one of his defining moments was discovering two young rappers from Queens named Akinyele and Nas. |
While Akinyele made a name for himself as the Benny Hill of rap with hits like “Put It In Your Mouth,” “Bomb,” and “Love Me For Free,” Nas has established himself as one of the greatest rappers of all time. |
“Well you know hip hop is real life, you know what I mean? Like you gotta go through your own grind, you know what I mean? It’s like the music is good. The dancing is good. You know all the art and all of that but it originates like with fam, you know what I’m sayin’, like holding fam down. You know what I’m sayin’? I always kept that as you know one of the first priorities for me indeed.” |
Since the ’90s, Large Professor has worked at his own pace and he re-emerged in 2001 to produce several tracks on Nas’ comeback album, Stillmatic. Large Professor explained why he has taken his time and several breaks from rap music to deal with family issues. He said, |
Large Professor is currently touring and developing a new artist, Killer Sha Looney, from Queens’ infamous Queensbridge Projects. |
