LACUNA COIL SAYS DEPECHE MODE ENJOYED THE SILENCE

(VIDEO) Lacuna Coil covers Depeche Mode, so do the threesome enjoy the metal band’s rendition of “Enjoy The Silence”?

Lacuna Coil has released their new album Karmacode, and the band was a favorite at this year’s OzzFest. The band was the only female fronted band on the tour, and it’s the italian band’s second time around on the festival.

The first single was “Our Truth,” and it helped propel Lacuna Coil’s Karmacode to deubut at number twenty-eight on the Billboard 200 album chart a few months back. The band is making inroads at radio with a cover of Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy The Silence,” and vocalist Cristina Scabbia talked about the song.

“As far as I know, even Depeche Mode liked it. Because the producer of our album worked with them — and we didn’t know that. So as soon as we finished recording he said, ‘I like it very much. I will let the guys know about it. I will let them listen.’ And we were like, ‘What are you talking about?’ (producer)’Yeah, I worked with Depeche Mode…” As far as we know we had very good comments about it. Yeah, it just happened. We didn’t really mean to release a single out of it. What I mean is that we still have fresh ideas so we didn’t really want to pick up a cover to appeal in the mainstream. We even put the song as the last song on the album, but we just wanted a song, a very famous song, that people can sing with us at the concerts. It’s completely different in Europe, because in Europe they’re huge. Lacuna Coil wrapped up OzzFest this past weekend, they’ll take a two week break, and then they’ll resume their tour in the U.K.
