KRS ONE TO RECEIVE I AM HIP HOP ICON AWARD

Hip hop legend KRS-One will receive the I AM HIP HOP Icon Award at the 2007 BET Hip Hop Awards which are scheduled for October 17th at the Atlanta Civic Center. The show will be hosted by Katt Williams and will feature performances by Nelly, Common, T.I., Kanye West, Soulja Boy, and Lil Wayne

T.I leads all nominees with nine. He was nominated in the Best Collabo, Best Live Performance, Lyricist of the Year, MVP, Track of the Year, CD of the Year, Hustler of the Year, Best Ringtone and Viewer’s Choice categories.

“After being A&R at Warner Brothers, at Elektra Records and for B-Boy Records, what I look forward to in an artist is a person who does not doubt themselves, is what I really look for. I don’t really even look for talent because in today’s music industry, it’s about marketing. It’s not even about talent. You see all the talentless people on TV and radio. You hear ’em. It’s not about talent.”
