KORN HOLD THEIR ANNUAL CEMETERY PARTY CELEBRATING FAMILY VALUES
In what is quickly becoming an annual event, Korn once again held a party at the famed Hollywood Forever Cemetery and the band celebrated their upcoming Family Values Tour by inviting a few of their close and personal friends. The party took place walking distance from the gravesites of Johnny Ramone of The Ramones and Hollywood dignitaries Jayne Mansfield and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. among many others. Korn will once again be hitting the road this summer on The Family Values Tour and the band is brining along a heavy hitting lineup which includes Evanescence, Flyleaf, Atreyu, Hellyeah, Trivium, Neurosonic and Droid. For the party, which was held April 19th, Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue, Rob Zombie, Atreyu, Powerman 5000, The Girls Next Door, POD, Tila Tequila, former Marilyn Manson guitarist John 5, Droid and Bad Religon all showed Korn support for their continuous success of their ground breaking Family Values Tour. |
We caught up with Jonathan Davis, lead vocalist with Korn, to discuss the cryptic choice of party locations, which is becoming an annual event. |
“We just show up brother. You’re having a party in the cemetery and it’s like OK, cool. We did it last year, too. It’s a cool place to throw parties. Not a lot of people get to party in a cemetery.” |
We also caught up with Richard Patrick, former vocalist with Filter who now tours with his band Army of Anyone, to discuss his collaboration on a cover of U2’s ‘Pride (In the Name of Love) with Flyleaf which can be found on The 2006 Family Values Tour compilation CD. |
“We actually rehearsed for it that morning at around nine o clock. We did it about ten or fifteen times then we went out and recorded it live on Family Values in New Jersey. It was a real treat. Those guys are amazing musicians and they’re very inspired. It was something that I’m going to remember for a long time. I remember telling Lacey (Mosley of Flyleaf) that we better bring our A Game because if you’re going to try and cover a U2 song, you best better have your S**t together.” |
Davis shared his thoughts on the tour’s well rounded lineup and the exciting announcement of a special guest drummer for Korn’s appearance at the 2007 Family Values Tour. |
“I think this year it’s well rounded. There’s a lot of different kinds of music going on. So I think it’s going to be an overall killer show with all the variety in types of music. So, I’m excited and we’re stoked. Plus we’ve got our new drummer in the band, Joey from Slipknot so we’re excited to play with him too.” |
So as the dust begins to settle of the announcement of Joey Jordison from Slipknot on drums for the full tour in 2007, Davis also confirmed that former Frank Zappa drummer Terry Bozzio still performs all the drums on the band’s still untitled album. Davis admitted Korn is finishing up the last vocal tracks for the album which will be released this summer. Tickets for The Family Values Tour go on sale April 28th and the tour kicks off July 20th in Missouri. It ends September 2nd in Irvine, California. |
