KITTIE DECLAWED BY SNOW, SECURITY, AND FANS
Kittie was forced to postpone its show Wednesday night (February 14) in Allentown, Pennsylvania due to a snow and ice storm that made traveling treacherous at best. The band will make up the date, but a date tonight (Thursday, February 15) in Jacksonville, North Carolina was still up in the air at press time. |
This is by far not the worst thing to happen on the road. Drummer Mercedes Lander recalls getting her butt kicked by security at one gig. |
“Oh yeah. I got my ass kicked by a security guard once at the club that we were playing because he didn’t think I was in the band. That’s happened a lot. That happens to me a lot because I’m always in the back.” |
The band is used to touring and traveling over harsh conditions, but it’s when fans get a little over amorous that they have trouble. |
[Morgan Lander] “People feel like when you’re in the public eye that you belong to everybody, and everybody wants to say ‘hi’ or get an autograph or to touch you and it’s like you even have to be careful if you reach into the crowd and someone pulls your arm or breaks your fingers. There’s just been a lot of crazy stuff that’s happened like that.” [Mercedes Lander] “You just have to be… you have to keep a little bit of distance because situations can escalate.” [Tara McLeod] “Yeah, some girl in Texas, remember when she pulled herself up on stage from my arm?” [Morgan] “Yeah. Not cool.” [McLeod] “…and she was not small (laughs).” |
Kittie hopes to resume their tour in support of their forthcoming release, Funeral For Yesterday, which hits stores next week (February 20 in the ‘States). The band will be on the road through March 24 in Warren, Michigan. |
