Kiss are set to release their first album of new material since 1998’s “Psycho Circus” and the album, which is titled “Sonic Boom” will be released exclusively at Wal-Mart. Kiss is joining a growing list of musicians putting out new music exclusively through the world’s largest retailer, like The Eagles and AC/DC to name a few. “Sonic Boom”It will include a CD of the band’s first new music in 11 years, re-recorded versions of famous Kiss hits and a live DVD. In web site postings, bassist Gene Simmons describes the 11-track set, produced by singer-guitarist Paul Stanley, as “the best new record we’ve done since ‘Destroyer.’ It is ‘Rock And Roll Over’ meets ‘Love Gun’…If you’re a fan of our stuff from about 1977, you’ll feel right at home.” |
Although original members Peter Criss and Ace Frehley are no longer in Kiss, guitarist Paul Stanely who remains the only original member along with bassist Gene Simmons, told Artisan News that the band had to change their lineup if they wanted to remain a happy family. |
“Well the farewell tour became longer and longer and it was funny because what I found ss the farewell tour went along was that I didn’t really want to say farewell to Kiss. In actuality I wanted to say farewell to some of the members and what I realized was Kiss wasn’t a happy family anymore and to keep it happy and to keep the fans happy we had to make some changes. So, the farewell tour was done with the best of intentions and those intentions were that we were going to call it a day but as that day grew closer I began to see I really didn’t want to stop it was just some of the guys were making it very uncomfortable. So, they went home and we kept going.” |
“Sonic Boom” is due to be released on Oct. 6th and it will be Kiss’ first studio album with guitarist Tommy Thayer, and drummer Eric Singer’s first since 1997’s “Carnival of Souls: The Final Sessions.” As of press time Kiss have two tour dates which are September 25th in Detroit, Mi and they will be performing at Voodoo Music Festival October 31st in New Orleans, La alongside such other acts like Eminem, Janes Addiction, Widespread Panic, Wolfmother, Eagles of Death Metal and The Flaming Lips. |
