KEVIN SMITH SAYS CATCH AND RELEASE IS A FAMILY FILM
Kevin Smith becomes part of Jennifer Garner’s extended family in Catch And Release. |
Kevin Smith stars in Catch & Release, a romantic comedy where a woman grieving over the death of her husband finds solace and comfort with her male friends played by Smith and Deadwood star Timothy Olyphant. |
Smith says the film recognizes that family goes beyond blood ties. |
“It’s kind of about extended family. One of my favorite topics is how the family of 21st century isn’t really your nuclear family. It’s not relatives, it’s the people you gather around you, your friends. So I fell in love with it right away. They told me I was reading for Sam and it was like putting on a glove or a prophylactic one that fits because I can do this, this ain’t difficult, I can pull this dude off.” |
Kevin talks about working with the new Jen in buddy Ben Affleck’s life, Jennifer Garner. |
“Garner is awesome. She’s so sweet and fun and just a total pro. She’s the soft gooey center of the movie. Thankfully Jen is the soft gooey center in real life so it kind of works out.” |
Catch & Release is directed by Susannah Grant who recently wrote the screenplay for Charlotte’s Web. Kevin jokes that she is the only woman other than his wife who encouraged him to take his shirt off during a scene where he gets a massage by Juliette Lewis. Regardless of her request Kevin did not oblige opting to keep his modesty in tact and cover up. |
