KERRY KING WOULD BE SURPRISED IF SLAYER WERE INDUCTED INTO ROCK HALL OF FAME
The 2009 Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on April 4th and this year Jeff Beck, Metallica, Run-D.M.C., Bobby Womack, Little Anthony & the Imperials and Wanda Jackson are the legendary performers that will all be honored in the event which returns to Cleveland, Ohio. With Metallica being honored by voters in 2009, it signals the first of the second generation of Metal bands being eligible for the prestigious honor of enshrinement into the Rock Hall of Fame. Metallica were a huge part in shaping the landscape of heavy metal music for over two decades, along with other notable bands like Slayer, Motley Crue, Megadeth and Anthrax to name a few. So, now that Metallica have been elected, how does Slayer feel about the possibilities of being inducted in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame one day in the future. |
Artisan News caught up with Slayer’s lead guitarist, Kerry King, to find out if he ever thinks about Slayer eventually getting inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. |
“Only because, didn’t Metallica get in this year or last year or something? And I’m like, oh yeah, they’ve experienced and experimented with more of a pop angel so I can definitely see them. Whether our time comes and people say ‘You’re going to go into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.’ I’d kind of be surprised if we did because we are the anti-everything.” |
The 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performer inductees were chosen by the 600 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twenty-five years after their first recording is released. In addition to being honored at the April 4th ceremony, each inducted artist is commemorated at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland Ohio, which serves as a monument to rock and roll’s impact on our culture. These inductees will be honored – along with previous year’s inductees and hundreds of other artists – with an exhibit and film that serve to tell the story of modern music. |
