KERI RUSSELL SERVES IT UP IN WAITRESS
Keri Russell stars in Waitress as a pie genius whose creations mirror her feelings. |
Keri Russell stars in Waitress, the story of a pie genius working at the local diner in a small Southern town whose masterful creations reflect what’s going on in her emotional life. Like her Kick In The Pants Pie to win the $25,000 pie baking contest or I Don’t Want Earl’s Baby Pie when she discovers she’s pregnant by her dead beat husband. |
The waitresses played by Keri, Cheryl Hines and the late Adrienne Shelly find comfort and companionship at the diner when their lives at home aren’t as appetizing. |
“All of the women in this movie, none of their lives are not great obviously. But there’s this whole world that they’ve created for themselves in the diner where they might not be getting their emotional lives at home but they absolutely have it created within each other with these women at the diner. I think particularly Southern women do that really well with each other. They kind of create their family with their girlfriends. I find that to definitely to be the case with my life and my girlfriends who are right up there with my husband. I mean they are equally as important to me.” |
Waitress is a bittersweet comedy in more ways than one as it is the last film written and directed by Adrienne Shelly who was senselessly murdered last year. Keri remembers her. |
“She was really funny, really silly. I don’t even think she was five foot. You know she was this tiny little girl with a big presence and just ran that set, ran all those guys and came out with this beautiful film and I think it was exactly what she wanted.” |
Waitress is currently playing in theaters. |
