KEANU REEVES ROMANCES WITH LETTERS IN THE LAKE HOUSE
(VIDEO) Keanu Reeves agrees with his Lake House character’s form of wooing a woman, through letter writing. |
Keanu Reeves prefers to compose letters the old-fashioned way, on a typewriter because he likes the imprint that it leaves on the paper and it doesn’t require batteries. In the film The Lake House his character Alex takes to letter writing as well to woo a lonely doctor played by Sandra Bullock. |
It’s been 12 years since Keanu and Sandra worked together where they bonded on a speeding bus. Keanu took advantage of their off-screen relationship to develop the love story their characters share on screen. |
“I think letters are romantic, writing them to someone. They start to really share these mundane aspects but with a question of ‘who are you? What is going on?’ Then they end up at least on Alex’s point he gets to find someone who he can share his questions and his innermost self and who he is and someone starts to respond in kind. I mean it’s an interesting way to date but whatever works.”rn |
The love scene shot in a small town of Illinois attracted many of the locals who hung outside their houses to catch a glimpse of Keanu and Sandra’s first on-screen kiss. rn |
“We have a great affection for each other. We have trust and we enjoy each other’s company so it was really nice to work with her again. And how her life since I worked with her to now has been a new life working as a producer, restoring houses. And as an actress she’s grown. I find her inspiring. She’s got this wonderful quality of vulnerability and strength, of being present but distant which I find very intriguing.” |
