KANYE WEST PLANS TO KEEP SPEAKING HIS MIND
Kanye West’s outburst during the Hurricane Katrina telethon was voted the Number One unforgettable moment of 2005 by Vibe magazine. During his tirade, West accused President Bush of not caring about black people and reactions to the comment have been mixed. West was also quite outspoken last year when he didn’t win the best new artist award at the American Music Awards. |
While backstage at Z100’s Jingle Ball in New York, West explained that he doesn’t plan to change his outspoken ways. He said, |
“I care what my friends say. Like I think I listen to my inner-circle but as far as like just listening to all the random press, the negative press, the positive press, you can’t take all that in. You just have to be yourself and that’s the reason why on my speech for the Billboard’s I said my greatest accomplishment, basically what I was saying was I’m still me. I’m still the same person I was when I came in the game. I didn’t adjust to what people felt like I should be because of my celebrity and start over compensating for my accomplishments.” |
West is up for eight Grammy Awards at the upcoming Grammy Awards. If the rapper goes empty handed, it surely won’t be without him giving the Academy a piece of his mind. |
