KANYE WEST INVOLVED IN LEGAL DISPUTE OVER EARLY RECORDINGS
Kanye West was recently hit wth a $10.5 million countersuit for producer Eric “E-Smoove” Miller. West hit Miller with a $1.3 million lawsuit in August to stop Miller from releasing an album of material West recorded when he was 18 years-old. According to Miller, he co-wrote the songs and owns them based on a contract West signed. West’s legal team believes that the signature on the contract was forged. |
Miller is hoping to release the ten song album and to profit from its proceeds because he believes West has no ownership issue. A federal jusge in Chicago will decide whether or not the recordings will be released and whether or not Miller can use West’s name and voice to promote the project. |
West’s attorney, Philip Hoffman, told Associated Press that Miller’s countersuit has no merit because there is no written contract explicitly authorizing his use of West’s work or name. |
West is currently on his Touch The Sky tour with Fantasia and Keyshia Cole. |
