KANYE WEST AND COMMON TO CO CHAIR DJ RETREAT

Kanye West and Common have been named honorary co-chairs of the Global Mixx DJ Retreat, which will be held at the House Of Blues Hotel in Chicago from August 10th to the 13th. Tthe conference, which celebrates urban DJ music, culture, and lifestyle, will include panel discussions, seminars, and the 2nd Annual Global Mixx DJ Awards.

West has been keeping busy by working on a new album Graduation, his Pastelle Clothing line, and new projects from his G.O.O.D. Music roster which includes: Common, GLC, Consequence, and John Legend. GLC explained what it’s like to work with West in the studio. He said,

“Hey this is GLC and I’m on G.O.O.D. music. And man working in the studio with Kanye West is like a blessing and a half, man, because the dude is a genius, he’s on point. He must really know what he’s doing cause he snatch me up so it’s fittin to go down man. Love, Life & Loyalty coming out on G.O.O.D. Music this summer baby. There it is.”

West is also getting into the world of film. The Grammy Award winner explained what he’s got in store,”I’m working on a film right now with New Line. We had a title, but we just switched it. I’m working on it with Stephen Gaghan, who wrote Traffic. I’ll be kind of like Quentin Tarantino or Spike Lee, where I’ll be directing, editing, and producing.”

No release date has been set for the film project.
