KANYE TAKES HOME FOUR GRAMMYS, RIHANNA GETS FIRST

Kanye West takes home four Grammys, Rihanna takes first, and West didn’t take too kindly to being prodded to leave the stage.

Kanye West was the big winner in the Hip Hop category taking home four awards at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, which took place from Los Angeles’s Staples Center on Sunday, February 10. Along with West’s victory was a combo victory by Jay-Z and Rihanna, whose trophy was her first. West’s “Stronger” took home Best Rap Solo Performance, “Good Life,” won for Best Rap Song, Best Rap Album for Graduation, and he shared one with Common for their collaboration “Southside,” which took home Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group.

The Best Rap Album award was presented during the CBS-TV telecast, and during his acceptance speech they tried to hurry him up, which he found very inappropriate.

“I always told Common, man you gotta time the album out better. You can’t drop ’em the same year as me man, you gotta… This is my award. [show music pots up] Come on man, you’re gonna play music on me? And for Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse if I don’t get to get up here for Album Of The Year, you deserve it as much as me. Just to say something about my mother, I appreciate all the support, I appreciate all the prayers – It would be in good taste to stop the music now. I appreciate..(music stops and cheers).”

Jay-Z and Rihanna took home the Best Rap/Sung collaboration for “Umbrella,” and during her acceptance speech, the man who has been there before dropped some knowledge to the youngster about acceptance speeches.

[Rihanna] “Dad, I know I promised you I’m going to give you my first Grammy, but we might have to have to fight over this one.” [Jay-Z] “She said she wants to thank everybody for her first Grammy.” [Rihanna] “Anyway, I’d like to thank Jay-Z for being a part of this record with me.” [Jay-Z] “She’d like to thank Jiggaman for being the greatest in the world.”

Kanye, who has been outspoken about being robbed at the Grammys before, added to his collection which already included six awards. Jay-Z has now won five Grammys total.
