KAISER CHIEFS BIG WINNER AT BRITS
Kaiser Chiefs were the big winners at Wednesday night’s (February 15) Brit Awards, which aired in the U.K. the following evening. The Kaisers took home the most awards, three, for Best British Group, Best British Rock Group, and Best Live act. James Blunt and Coldplay came in a close second with two awards apiece. |
Kaiser Chiefs have been a roaring success overseas, and despite a rough time in the U.S., the band said they’ve exceeded all their expectations. Ricky Wilson and Simon Rix were asked if they’re satisfied with where Kaiser Chiefs are and if they feel they’re successful. |
[Wilson] “Yeah we’ve done everything we’ve wanted to, but we haven’t done everything we’re going to do.” [Rix] When I thought about being in a band and all the things that I would do, I think I’ve done them all. Getting nominated for the Mercury Prize, getting nominated for that is one of those things where you would think, ‘Briliant. If I did that, I would have made it.’ And so there’s loads and loads of things that we’ve done that I’m really proud of, but now the goalposts have moved. It’s got massive, oversized.” {Wilson] “Ambitions change every day and now ours is now a little bit stupid.” |
Kaiser Chiefs also opened the show with a rip-roaring performance. The indie band seemingly came out of nowhere. The Kaisers amassed a huge U.K. and international following with their hit album, Employment, which has stayed in the top of the charts in England for a better part of a year. |
