JULIETTE LEWIS MUSIC LIFE BEGINS AFTER 30
(VIDEO) Juliette Lewis started making the transition from movies to music when she turned 30. She tells our camera about the shift. |
Juliette Lewis has made a break from the art of acting, and is now on her way to becoming a legitimate rock and roller. She’s formed Juliette & The Licks, and the band made its debut during the Warped Tour two summers ago. Juliette & The Licks have completed their first album, You’re Speaking My Language,” which features the title track. |
Lewis says she’s serious about music, so much so that she’s willing to push her silver screen experience to the side. |
“Well, this is huge. It’s a huge choice. I’m starting an entirely new career at 30, you know when I put the band together a couple of years ago. So, it is a choice. It’s a choice that I’ll do less movies. I mean I have somewhat of a security in movies in that I always know I’ll work. I’m a working actress, so I always know that’s what I can do. So it’s terrifying and fulfilling at the same time to embark on putting yourself out there musically and forming a band. I’m really cocky in my band and what we have to offer as a new rock and roll act. For me it’s just about finding our audience.” |
Juliette & The Licks are trailblazing across the U.S. in support of You’re Speaking My Language, and she’s already looking forward to the next album which is earmarked for release in 2006. |
