JOHN LEGUIZAMO OFFERS CRITICISM TO ACTORS
Matthew McConaughey and Ryan Phillippe give great performances for The Lincoln Lawyer, which many are saying lives up to they hype. |
It was like a scene out of American Idol only the contestants were actors and the judge was John Leguizamo. Twenty-four hopeful actors bared their audition tapes in front of a live audience at New York’s Pressure Bar for their chance to star in Live Mansion:The Movie, a thriller which is being produced solely for the internet by Ckrush Entertainment. |
John talks about how he formed his casting critique without being too mean to the contestants. |
“It was hard. I judge a lot when I’m with my friends when I’m watching movies we’re hyper critical, we’re goofing on people too but here I know these people got their feelings on the line and it may be their dream, it may not be. Some of them it may be just a dare at a bar. You know I got drunk on Jaegermeisters. But I tried to be just how I am with my friends. I talk about people’s work. I try to be honest without hurting too many feelings. But I was just looking for people who could be natural, who could be real or had something interesting, their own personality or could just be themselves. I mean that’s what I was looking for, the rest you know all the bad line readings, the mugging. You know you can forgive some of that if it’s not excessive. But if it’s excessive it’s like reject pile.” |
John can empathize with the auditioning process as he’s had a few nightmare casting calls of his own but through his experience he offers hardcore advice for nailing the part. |
“You felt personally rejected. You can’t help at the beginning getting hurt, getting your feelings crushed, being demoralized because people are judging you. You don’t walk into life and walk into places where people criticize the way you look, the way you talk. But in acting you know that’s the territory. I got actor’s Altzheimers. I forgot all my bad performances. You know it was tough. You went in there and it was usually like you know there were so many people, they all look like you and you kept thinking to yourself, ‘how am I gonna break out. What am I gonna do different?’ And you know what to do so the best thing is always be your damn self, that’s all you got and you’ll usually win that way.” |
Out of 1,000 entries only eight lead roles will be cast as well as the director and ultimately decided by your vote on LiveMansion.com. A director’s competition was previously judged by Spike Lee who has since become a consultant for Ckrush. LiveMansion:The Movie will begin production this summer. |
