(VIDEO) Talladega Nights star John C. Reilly as race car driver Cal Naughton, Jr. tells story where his pal’s kids saved the day.

Talladega Nights race car drivers Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton, Jr. are as close as two childhood friends can be on and off the track. Cal played by John C. Reilly says one night he got himself in a heap of trouble and there were Ricky’s two young sons risking their curfew to help out their dad’s friend in need.

Cal talks about what he admires most about Ricky Bobby.

“Well there’s Walker and Texas Ranger are the two of them and they’re little spitfires. I’ll tell you what, one time I was getting rolled in a bar. I got tossed out on the sidewalk but some fool didn’t know who I was and how payback was coming down. Them two little kids ride up on their big wheels, I don’t know what they’re doing out at 10:30 at night. Them kids helped me beat back that whole group. They’re tough little buggers.”

Will Ferrell’s Ricky Bobby sports a hat with Wonder Bread’s logo as a nod to Interstate Brands Corporation plant, owner of Wonder Bread which used to occupy the warehouse where the race cars for the film were housed. rn

“I guess his love for me. To see that in another human being to have a love for me; that would be the most important thing. That and he’s like a speed demon. What do I value? His humility.”
