Jodie Foster plays a regretful vigilante in The Brave One.

Jodie Foster plays a public broadcasting host in The Brave One who walks the New York City streets reporting on different people and places in the city that is disappearing.

When a romantic walk with her fiancé ends with his death at the hands of thugs, she becomes fearful of her own neighborhood until she takes matters into her own hands.

“I also love the idea of a vigilante if you will who hates herself for it. Who’s ashamed of it and doesn’t know how to stop. I think as opposed to the other variety you’ve seen in movies of relentless killers who have no regrets. Which changes her life and turns her into a different person than she could have ever imagined and sort of brings her through the depth of her darkness in some ways and kind of becomes a stranger to herself.”

Jodie can’t predict how she would behave if faced with a similar situation in real life.

“I think that’s the beauty of the movie is that we all have these ideas of lines we can never cross and there are people we can never be and yet you don’t know who you’ll be in a certain circumstance. You know, you don’t know who would you be if you were a prisoner in a prisoner of war camp. You can only assume intellectually what your ethics might be and what your morality is but when you’re forced into a situation that challenges you and changes you perhaps you would react differently.”

Jodie is currently filming the family story Nim’s Island in Australia with Gerard Butler and Abigail Breslin.
