JIMMY EAT WORLD TO RELEASE EP
Austin City Limits Festival got off to a rollicking start Friday, October 4 with Queens Of The Stone Age, Vampire Weekend, Depeche Mode, Jimmy Eat World, Arc… |
Jimmy Eat World is set to release an EP just in time for the start of school. The band’s forthcoming collection is called Stay On My Side Tonight, and it features three previously unreleased originals, a Heatmiser cover, and a remix of “Drugs Or Me” from their latest album, Futures. |
There are two separate release dates for the album. It will be available digitally on September 13, and those who have more conventional means of getting music will have to wait until October 4. The band took another crack at “Drugs Or Me,” from Futures, but drummer Zach Lind talked about the painstaking process of getting the record done. |
“I think it was more just elevating our awareness of what we wanted and what we wanted things to sound like and how we wanted the song to be. I think we became a lot more picky and nit-picky about everything that we did, whether it was a performance or the arrangement or instrumentation, all that stuff. When you do that it just makes it a lot longer of a process.” |
“These are songs that we were working on around the time of recording Futures, but that just didn’t seem to fit on the record,” added, Jimmy Eat World’s Jim Adkins. “Now we’ve finally been able to give them a common home where they work really well as a whole, which is a relief. We didn’t want to see them just trickle out randomly or even worse just sit in the vault until the next record or who knows how long. So that’s the beauty of technology: We can get songs out to our fans whenever and however we want.” |
Meanwhile, the band is hitting the road with Green Day through October 9, and they’ve created independent videos for “Tokyo Sunday” and “If You Don’t, Don’t.” |
