(VIDEO) Singer Jimmy Buffet produced Hoot, now on DVD which has an environmental message about an endangered owl.

Margaritaville singer Jimmy Buffet is now a filmmaker in paradise teaming up with Hoot author Carl Hiassen and director Will Shriner to produce the tale about three kids trying to prevent the threat of expanding industry invading the natural habitat of the burrowing Floridian owl, now on DVD. Jimmy who plays a marine biologist teacher in the film that would rather be surfing talks about the subliminal message behind the entertainment.

The DVD bonus features includes an educational story on the National Wildlife Federation which helps protect the natural habitat of wild animals and how you can create your own backyard habitat to attract wild life into your home.rn

“It’s great to see on the screen activism at that early age because we live in a pretty complacent society where realism is kind of thrown away. As an old activist I think it’s great to see something without preaching or in your face. It’s getting involved in asking questions about why certain things happen. And if it’s just for somebody else’s attainment of financial stuff without considering what’s going on and the impact it’s having on your own local community where you live then hell yeah you have a right to go ask questions and to stomp your feet.”rn
