JIM CARREY COUNTS ON NUMBER 23
Jim Carrey’s obsession with the number 23 was even more realized by the film The Number 23. |
Jim Carrey has been obsessed with the number 23 for some time now even changing the name of his production company Pit Bull Productions to JC 23. Even more bizarre was when he received the script for The Number 23 and page one described a dog catcher trying to capture a pit bull. |
Jim talks about how he became hooked on the number 23 and started seeing it everywhere. |
“One of my best friends in Canada had the obsession and he told me about it. He started pointing to things. He started pointing to license plates saying it adds up to 23. He became like a mathematician, like some kind of savant about it. I said, ‘that’s ridiculous,’ but then I started seeing it everywhere. Finally it ended up culminating in realizing that the 23rd Psalm was about living without fear. And so that’s why I changed the name of my company to that.” |
This obsession is evident in the story of the film The Number 23 when things that happen in the book begin to control the character as Jim explains. |
“Walter Sparrow is a dog catcher. He has a job he likes, a family he loves and really there’s nothing too extraordinary about him until he finds this book and then life becomes this mysterious magical place where maybe there are incredible things that are possible.” |
During the making of the film strange things added up to the number 23 such as the total letters of Jim Carrey and his co-star Virginia Madsen. |
