JEWEL REVEALS THE ‘ALASKA’ OF MEN IN TREES
Alaskan native Jewel talks about guest starring on Men in Trees, and the ‘real’ Alaska. |
Singer songwriter Jewel may not be meant for the grueling process of auditioning when it comes to acting, but she hasn’t given up completely on the craft especially when the job involves her hometown of Alaska. |
Recently Jewel had a guest spot on the series Men In Trees as a folk singer returning home for a visit to Elmo, the town where the story takes place. Jewel says the show captures the quirkiness of where she was raised, even if the town doesn’t really exist. |
“It’s actually fictional. I think they made up the town. It’s filmed in Vancouver. Alaska’s weird. It’s such a varied place. It’s odd and it’s quirky. I thought the show did a good job sort of showing that it’s quirky and there are a lot of guys to girl per capita. What’s the saying? The odds are there’s more guys than girls but the guys are odd or something like that. Everybody’s a little bit quirky that lives up there.” |
It’s a good thing Men In Trees is filmed in Vancouver as it’s a lot closer to get to than Jewel’s home town. |
“It’s hard. It takes two days to get to the town I’m from so it’s a real commitment. You can get to London easier than you can get to Homer, Alaska.” |
The Ride With The Devil star still keeps her hand in the movie business, most recently writing and performing the title song Quest For Love for the film Arthur & The Invisibles. |
