Jet frontman Nic Cester was released from University College Hospital Euston London after collapsing during a gig on Monday night (August 10). After complaining that day of not feeling well, Cester tried to perform the Q magazine gig and hit the floor after the second song. After a two day stay at the hospital he insisted he play at Parker McMillan for London’s This Feelings Club Night, which was scheduled for Wednesday, August 12. Part of the reason he may have become ill is the non-stop support of the single “She’s A Genius” off their August 25 release Shaka Rock. |
Cester said that there was a time before recording Shaka Rock that he had to check out for a while, and he told us what he did. |
“I can’t speak for everyone, but I know my answer to that was just to disappear for a while, and I went and moved to a small village in Italy and just focused on small things in life like just getting through the day without speaking the language first of all is a little bit of a challenge. And trying to rennovate a house and not knowing what the f–k you call a plumber in Italian. So just getting off the grid and just getting away from it all for a while and just reassessing life in my own head, determining what matters and what’s important and figuring out what I want to d. Getting away from drugs and boozing all the time and starting again. Starting from scratch again. That’s what I’ve been doing with my time myself.” |
Jet is set for Festival appearances through the end of August. Shaka Rock is the band’s third effort. It follows 2006’s Shine On and the groundbreaking 2003 release, Get Born. rn |
