JENNIE GARTH GETS HANDS DIRTY BUILDING PLAYGROUNDS

Jennie Garth teams up with Lunchables to build playgrounds across the country.

You may remember Jennie Garth as sweet Kelly Taylor from Beverly Hills 90210, but lately she’s widening that zip code in neighborhoods across the country, building playgrounds for kids.

Jennie, a mother of three daughters has teamed up with Lunchables and Kaboom getting her own hands dirty to give other children a safe environment to play.

“You know this program that we’re working with, yesterday I was able to take two of my daughters down to South Los Angeles where we participated in building one of the first playgrounds builds. It was so fun and so fulfilling. We were out there with 200 volunteers and the people from Lunchables and the non profit organization Kaboom. We watched in six hours this great play space come to life and all the kids in the community were so excited.”

Jennie, who had built a playground for her daughters to play in their own backyard felt especially honored to help create a play space for other children in need.

“My girls and I we were participating in building stepping stones that were gonna be placed in the play structure area. We painted murals. We hoisted up the swing set, set the tether ball into concrete, all kinds of fun things and they had a great time doing it and as a parent just watching them get involved in not their community but in someone else’s community and make a difference was really fulfilling and I felt like I’m doing a good job as a parent to teach them these lessons, you know. Yeah it’s a really great program and I’m thrilled to be a part of it because it’s just real and it’s necessary. Kids need safe places to play and just be kids.”

Kids can vote for their favorite piece of playground equipment on Lunchables.com. For every on line vote Lunchables will donate 25 cents towards the $400,000 needed to build six playgrounds across the country. Aside from building playgrounds, Jennie is currently learning the cha, cha, cha as she’ll be the next celebrity hoofer in Dancing With The Stars.
