JASON STATHAM KEEPS STUNTS SECRET FROM MOM

Crank star Jason Statham didn’t tell his mother that he would be free falling 200 feet over solid concrete from a helicopter in the film for fear she’d be worried sick about him.

Luckily for his parents, the daredevil action star pulled through the stunt virtually unscathed but he can’t say the same for his partner in the scene. Jose Cantillo who plays Statham’s nemesis got a bit carried away in the helicopter fight scene.

“Most of the stunts I do I don’t tell ‘em until I’ve done it. I always think, should I phone my mom and tell her I’m gonna be hanging out of a helicopter or should I just wait. Usually I just wait because they worry otherwise. If you’ve done it, it’s over, you’re safe and it’s good. She hasn’t seen it yet. But I told her. I showed them some still pictures and they were over the moon. They love the fact that I test my own ability and my own sort of skills. It’s fun you know. They’re very proud of me.”

Good thing they already got the shot. Crank opens today in theaters nationwide.

“It’s a very enclosed tight space that you’re fighting within. On a reaction to one of my punches he oversold it and hit his head only to make me look good. He went flailing back and smashed his head on the top of the helicopter. Which in turn gave himself a concussion so they whisked him away.”
