JASON REEVES DEBUT ALBUM, MORE LIKE A FAIRYTALE

Jason Reeves has released his Warner Brothers Records debut album ‘The Magnificent Adventures of Hearthache and other Frightening Tales’ and having moved to Los Angeles from Iowa not too long ago, it’s only a matter of time before more success comes his way. Coming to the conclusion that he wanted to become a musician at an early age, Reeves left his home in Iowa and ventured out to Hollywood, California like countless others to try to make a name for himself. In fact, one of the first friends in Los Angeles Jason had was Colbie Calliet and the two immediately began writing songs together. After the success of Calliet’s Platinum debut album ‘Coco’, of which the hit songs ‘Bubbly’ and ‘Realize’ were penned with Reeves, it was only a matter of time before a major label recognized his talent and signed him to a deal. |
We caught up with Jason recently to get his thoughts on the album, like his life being more like a fairtytale. |
“Well the title of the record is ‘The Magnificent Adventures of Hearthache and other Frightening Tales’ because for me this has sort of been more like a fairy tale than an album or a collection of songs or whatever you want to call it. So I had to give it a fairy tale name and that was my favorite of the fairy tale names. I realize it’s long an absurd but so is the record.” |
We also talked with Jason about how the confines of the studio help him to deal with the outside pressures of life and why he’s the most comfortable writing songs in the studio. |
“For sure, a lot of different people have a lot of different ways with dealing with problems and I guess that’s just the way I do it. I’m not really good at talking or otherwise communicating directly with people so I guess I have to write and kind of go around the normal mode and put it in a song. I can’t really talk. I’ve never done that. I don’t like talking to people, it’s just not what I do. So I write.” |
Music fans are beginning to take notice of Reeves immense talent as Reeves was in the Number One position on the unsigned Folk Chart for 9 months in a row as well as being named one of the Top Indie singers of 2007 by iTunes. Jason Reeves is currently on tour in support of ‘The Magnificent Adventures of Heartache’ with dates extending until October 27th in Minneapolis, Mn. |
