Jamie Foxx stars as undercover detective Ricardo Tubbs in Miami Vice which was shot entirely on location in the city it’s named for. Jamie says he wound up falling in love with the tropical city sometimes known as little Havana.

Jamie was also attracted to remaking the 1980s television series which has since become a part of American pop culture.

“Miami is just a great city, the latin flavor. The different flavors that influence you, the food, the freeness of it; also the trouble of it. The happiness of it, the beaches, just everything. It’s really like going to a different part. It’s like leaving the country. There’s so much to draw from, so many different stories from block to block. There’s about 17 blocks of Miami the strip that is exciting and each block is something that you can get into.”

“To be able to step into the characters of Crockett and Tubbs and hopefully reinvent it. Michael Mann didn’t do it like the television show. He did it very dark and very gritty and everything like that. What I take out of it is it’s cool to be Tubbs. It’s cool to be Crockett you know.”
