JAMES MARSDEN SINGS PRAISES OF HAIRSPRAY
James Marsden raves about the new movie musical Hairspray. |
Who knew that Cyclops could sing? X-Men star James Marsden proves his musical qualities in Hairspray playing host Corny Collins. James sings such musical numbers in the film as The Nicest Kids in Town and the movie’s theme song It’s Hairspray. |
James predicts Hairspray will be a success with critics and audiences. |
“The history of Hairspray, the 1988 John Waters movie gone to the musical so you feel like this is sort of a slam dunk. But you never want to say that. Even if it’s not which I’m sure that it will be. I’m sure that it will be critically, who knows box office whatever but the experience was something really special.” |
James says you won’t see anything like Hairspray on the big screen this summer. |
“We had so much fun doing it that you see that up on the screen. It’s Michelle and John and Chris and Latifah and everybody else having a great time singing and dancing and being these very, very specific characters. And it’s something very different for a summer fare. You don’t see this type of movie every year.” |
James Marsden singing wasn’t a secret to Hairspray composer Marc Shaiman who hired James to sing a jingle for Lovely, the perfume from Sarah Jessica Parker. |
