JAMES MARSDEN NOT PERFECT PRINCE
James Marsden was thrilled to be in a Disney film except for not meeting up to the perfection of a Disney Prince. |
James Marsden stars in the musical Enchanted as Prince Edward who is promised the hand of Princess Giselle played by Amy Adams until his wicked jealous mother puts a spell on their romance and banishes her to the real streets of New York City. |
James liked the combination of interweaving the Disney characters with modern day Manhattan. |
“And it’s an homage to the old Disney classics fairytale films but imagine the real Snow White from the animated movie in New York and how she would fare. And so it’s like these characters feel like aliens running through Manhattan.” |
Even though James is enchanted by Disney, he felt the pressure of living up to the physical perfection of Prince Edward. |
“You’re playing sort of this flawless drawing of a Prince and you represent him when he comes into the real world. So all of a sudden you have this giant magnifying glass of you like right in here and your hair is not perfect. And of course he has these dimensions like this sort of chest and perfect build and so that’s it’s own challenge looking like the animated character so hopefully they’ll draw him like he hasn’t been at the gym a couple of weeks.” |
To create his princely puffy chest James dons a pillow that had different levels of padding that went down into his stomach which ultimately was not very comfortable due to the humid and hot July weather in New York. |
