JAGGED EDGE MAKES THE MOVE TO ISLAND RECORDS
Jagged Edge began their career on Columbia Records through a deal with Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label. When Dupri severed ties a few years ago with Sony Music to accept an executive position at Virgin Records, he was forced to leave the group behind. Dupri has since left Virgin and has accepted the positon of president of urban music at Island Records. One of his first moves was to sign Jagged Edge. |
Jagged Edge is in the midst of comeback as their last album, Jagged Edge, was their least successful effort. There was briefly some speculation that the group may break up but for Jagged Edge that’s almost impossible as the group is made up of twin brothers Brian and Brandon Casey and best friends Kyle Norman and Richard Wingo. Brandon Casey explained that the gusy have been together since their mid teens. He said, |
” We was the type of group that was together five, six, seven years before we came out. We’ve been together literally since kids. And what’s crazy about that is, we been kind of doing this since we were all about fourteen, fiftteen but these two known each other even longer. So it’s like we the twins and of course we got a bond but they had a bond of their own too cause they’ve known each other way before we knew either one of them, you know what I mean, so.” |
In addition to Jagged Edge, Dupri has also sign rapper Hot Dollar to Island Records. Dollar hails from Compton, California and Hattisburg, Mississippi. |
