JACK WHITE AND ALICIA KEYS GET GRAMMY NOM FOR BOND SONG
Jack White and Alicia Keys were nominated for the video to the song “Another Way To Die,” and they talk about the James Bond influence. |
The video for the song “Another Way To Die” from the Quantum Of Solace movie, was nominated for the Best Music Video Short Form Grammy. The James Bond song and video is a collaboration between The White Stripes Jack White and Alicia Keys. |
The duo say that their vision of the song’s video was inspired by classic Bond imagery. |
[White] “We saw some of the clips of the opening, intro, of the new film, and that’s really what inspired this video. When I saw it, I talked to Alicia and said, ‘I think we should get the guys who did that to direct this and to produce this. You just sort of imagine the thing that’s striking about Bond; the silhouettes, the shadows, and the deserts…” [Keys] “…the deserts and the sand-dunes, and you know it’s gonna be sick behind you.” |
The duo talked about the goals for the video. |
[White] “But I also was a big fan of John Barry too and all his compositions, Shirley Bassey. I think we kind of put in our mind, ‘Look, if we’re going to do this let’s do this. Let’s join that world. Let’s aim for that,’ and that’s a high bar. That bar was raised thirty, forty years ago, so it’s tough to live up to that. You don’t try to top it you just try to get in there and join that family a little bit…. I spoke French there at the end.” [Keys] “That was good French, Merci.” |
White and Keys are up against “Honey” by Erykah Badu, “Pork And Beans” by Weezer, “Who’s Gonna Save My Soul” by Gnarls Barkley, and “House Of Cards” by Radiohead. |
