JACK JOHNSON DOES HIS BEST HENDRIX FOR VEGOOSE
Jack Johnson was one of the stand-out artists at this past weekend’s (October 28-30) Vegoose music festival in Las Vegas. The festival took place right around Halloween and many of the artists including Johnson were in costume. |
While there was no organized help to disaster victims in the U.S. from the rash of hurricanes hitting the south, it remained very much on people’s minds. More so, with the Voodoo music festival taking place in Memphis and New Orleans. Johnson was asked what artists can do to help out those who have been affected by natural disasters. |
“I think sometimes just donating money from your actual shows. So we’ve been doing a lot of stuff donating a percentage of our income from our tour just to go to non-profit groups and trying to make it more of something we do all the time rather than just here and there, you know.” |
Vegoose is the equivalent of the successful west coast festival, Bonnaroo. Highlights of this year’s show included sets by Dave Matthews and Friends, Arcade Fire, and Beck. Spontaneous collaborations between Trey Anastasio formerly of Phish and Widespread Panic and between Gov’t Mule’s Warren Haynes and Phil Lesh of Grateful Dead fame were fan favorites. |
