Washington, DC-based R&B singer J Holiday released his debut album, Bac of My Lac, on October 2nd. The album debuted at Number Five on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week after selling 105,000 copies its first week in stores. The album’s sales were fueled by the success of Holiday’s lead single, “Bed.” The song was written by singer songwriter The Dream. |
Holiday, who will be releasing a new single and video, “Suffocate,” this month, is one of the opening acts on R. Kelly’s upcoming tour. Keyshia Cole and Ne-Yo will also appear on the tour which kicks off on November 14th in Columbus, Georgia. It wraps on January 12th in Hampton, Virginia. |
“As far as my thoughts on R&B especially on the male side right now, I mean for some cats..You know like I got cats that are my peoples, my friends like Ginuwine gave me my first break. I used to sing background for him right before we moved down to Atlanta. And like Ne-Yo, that’s my homie. But you know like I think R&B is just kind of lacking right now. I think they’re playing around with it right now just trying to get some checks. You know what I’m sayin’? I take this real serious. I take offense to that so.” |
