Washington, DC-based R&B singer J. Holiday will release his debut album, Back Of My ‘Lac, this October on Capitol Records. The singer is hoping to bring real R&B back although 2007 has already proven to be the year of male R&B singers as Ne-Yo, Lloyd, Bobby Valentino, Tank, Joe, Mario, and Musiq Soulchild have all put out new albums. |
Back of My ‘Lac features production by Rodney Jerkins and Carlos McKinney, and songwriting by Sean Garrett. Holiday also wrote four songs on the album. The first single from the album is “Bed.” |
“Ah yeah I say that Marvin Gaye is one of my biggest influences because basically when I was growing up it was a lot songs that I liked that I just used to hear on the radio or I might hear in a movie or something. And I was just like, ‘I like that song, whatever woop, woop.’ And come to find out it was all the same cat. I was like, ‘This dude is crazy.’ You know what I’m sayin’? So then I started to get into his music. It just….I absorbed it all.” |
Holiday, who began his career as a member of the R&B group, 295, shared that Marvin Gaye is one of his biggest influences. The singer said, |
