IT’S OPEN SEASON FOR LAWRENCE AND KUTCHER
(VIDEO) Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher star in animated film Open Season. |
Martin Lawrence leaves Big Momma’s house for the wilderness in Open Season playing Boog, a grizzly his kids can adore as they rarely get the opportunity to watch dad in action being his films are usually for adults. Martin says Boog is not a threat to anyone, let alone young children. |
When we meet up with Elliot voiced by Ashton Kutcher, the half doe, half buck he is tied to the hood of a car and pleads with Boog to save his life. In return Elliot coaxes Boog out of his sheltered home and into the woods. Ashton says it was exhausting to keep up the energy needed for the character. |
“Boog is a 900 pound grizzly with no bear skills. He’s never been in the woods. He’s domesticated. He’s living in the lap of luxury in park ranger Beth’s garage. He’s the star of the wild life show in town. He’s a cuddly, lovable bear who one day has to realize that he does have real grizzly bear skills.” |
Martin never did animation before and was impressed with how realistic the forest looks, tempting him to explore nature even further. |
“At the end of the session you can only do that for so long. It’s like kids who eat sugar and go ‘fssshhh’ and all of a sudden they go ‘guchhhh’ and that’s why kids have to take a nap halfway through the day. So about halfway through my sessions I would feel like I needed to take a nap.” |
Open Season starts today in theaters. |
“It’s better than I even imagined. I remember them showing me story boards and things like that but it’s just beautiful. The world is just beautiful. It makes the woods more interesting. This film makes you go, wow if I actually walked down into the woods today it would make me take a better look at the woods and all the animals that really run through there.” |
