IOAN GRUFFORD GRACEFULLY DISCUSSES POLITICS

Ioan Grufford stars in Amazing Grace portraying Wilberforce, a member of the British Parliament in the 18th century whose life passion was to abolish slavery in the British Empire. Elected to the House of Commons at the young age of 21, Wilberforce made it his political ambition to take up the fight to outlaw the inhumane slave trade.

Ioan says this is a story that is still very relevant today.

“Well I think the story of Wilberforce is still relevant today because I think it highlights the fact that politics and politicians can make a difference and they should take courage in the fact that they can make a difference. This is the story of somebody changing history and changing the world for the greater good and it’s a movie about a greater change for humanity.”

Ioan says Amazing Grace is an inspirational film for change in light of recent current political injustice.

“I think we’re all a bit disillusioned by the current events in politics and politicians and that upsets me a little. I think we should be more involved and more interested and we should hold our politicians accountable for their actions a little bit more than we are I think.”

Amazing Grace directed by Michael Apted is currently playing in theaters.
