INXS SET FOR U.S. LATER THIS MONTH
(VIDEO) INXS is set to tour the U.S. after completing a run down under. So how will the band stack up after finding a singer on National TV? Find out here! |
INXS is gearing up for a tour to kick off April 21 in Memphis, rnTennessee, and the band is fronted by Rock Star winner J.D. Fortune. The band had tried several singers since the death of original frontman Michael Hutchence in the late ‘90s including Terrence Trent D’Arby. |
The band chose national TV at CBS to find their singer for the Rock Star program, and INXS multi-instrumentalist Kirk Pengilly said that the band initially didn’t know how the show would go as far as finding a singer and attracting people’s interest. |
“Initially we weren’t sure how it was going to go or how it was going to get received. Initially it got off towards a bumpy start, but towards the end of the season it was the highest rated show in its time slot. So I think to some extent we were surprised, but we really worked hard on the show and kept evolving it, kept changing it, kept trying to improve on it every episode and it paid off.” |
Singer of choice, J.D. Fortune was asked how he’ll hold up with the whole album/tour cycle for a legitimate big label band in INXS. |
“Yeah, man. Lucky thing I’ve got some great brothers here that are showing me the ropes and I’m trying to show them a few things in the meantime and we’re all hitting it as hard as we can. We’ve got a great record out there, and we’re having a blast. So that’s what it is.” |
INXS currently has dates lined up through June 16 in Los Angeles. An extensive tour of Australia and New Zealand is currently in the works with an announcement coming April 10. |
