INCUBUS REALIZE THEY ARE GETTING OLD AFTER MONUMENTS AND MELODIES
Incubus talk about their greatest hits package which included 13 Top 10 singles and why they feel like they are getting old. |
It’s hard to believe Incubus has been around since 1991, but the band has been turning out hits for close to two decades now and the band has gained a strong fan base around the globe with their undeniable talent for songwriting and performing live. With 4 #1 Singles and 13 Top 10 singles in the bands career, they felt the time was right to release their first Greatest Hits album, with the double disc “Monument and Melodies.” Disc one of “Monument and Melodies” includes the new singles “Black Heart Inertia” and “Midnight Swim” as well as all the bands radio hits of the last decade and disc 2 contains unreleased songs as well as an acoustic version of “A Certain Shade of Green” and a cover of the Prince song “Let’s Go Crazy.” |
Artisan News caught up with DJ Kilmore of Incubus to get his thoughts on why the band feel old after compiling their Greatest Hits package. |
“When I started looking at all the songs we had, all the singles we had, top 10 singles it was 13 and it was enough for an album and I was like ‘Wow, we’re getting old!’ Because we got a lot of songs out here now. Then we got into the studio, our rehearsal studio and started writing a couple more songs and two of them came to life and we recorded those really quick in a weekend and recorded a cover of “Lets Go Crazy” in one take and we had a bunch of rare stuff and we sort of just started making set lists for it and it just fell into place. I think now it’s a really good package.” |
Incubus recently completed their tour in support of “Monuments and Melodies” with a performance on the main stage at Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on August 28th. As of press time no furhter tour dates have been announced as the band continues to write songs for their next studio album which they hope to release in 2010. |
