INCUBUS CALLS THE POLICE
|
Rumors are flying around that Stuart Copeland and Andy Summers, the former drummer and guitarist from the seminal ’80s band The Police, will guest on the new Incubus album. The rumors are based from the collaboration they did at the KROQ Acoustic Christmas radio festival in Los Angeles late last year. |
We recently caught up with Incubus’s Brandon Boyd and new bassist Ben Kenney talked about the acoustic Christmas perfromande with two-thirds of The Police. |
(Boyd) “With the boys from The Police for the Kroq acoustic christmas, that was… I reached puberty again I know that. If I had another nut it would have dropped that night. (Kenney) “You finally got that third one low. I think for the whole band it was kind of like a dream come true kind of thing. You don’t really get to play with people who were kind of your heroes. You don’t really get to experience that. We actually got to go out and have dinner with the guys a couple of days before and it was just a trip. It’s like I’m sitting here with two guys that are in one of the most important bands of my childhood, one of the most important bands in my concept of music, and they’re cool and they’re going to play music with us. It’s really hard to define. It’s something that you try and tell your grandkids, but they just don’t get it…”(Boyd) “If they believe you even, sure…(laughs).” |
Incubus’s follow-up to A Crow Left Of The Murder is slated to drop early 2006. The band has set December dates for Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and Columbia. |
The last time the Police reunited was for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony a few years ago, and Sting joined Copeland and Summers for a brief set. |
