ICE T FINALLY GETS HIS PROPS
Ice T is one of the honorees of this year’s VH-1 Hip Hop Honors which airs Monday night, September 26th, at 9:00 pm ET on VH-1. The rap veteran has successfully transitioned into a television actor with a regular co-starring role on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU but he hasn’t abandoned his musical roots. Ice T is working on a new solo album and a new Body Count project. |
The rapper shared his thoughts on being recognized for his musical accomplishments. Ice T said, |
“I’m excited because I never really thought I would ever win nothing. I always looked at myself as a trouble maker and an outcast of hip-hop and for them to actually give me something. I didn’t believe I was winning nothing. Then they told me what it was and I said, ‘Well should I get it?’ Then I thought about it and I was like well Cube, Dre but I said I really was out before them. I said, ‘Yeah give me my damn award!’ You know what I’m sayin’? But I didn’t want to be that sucker that was standing on stage and people was like, ‘Why he winning something?’ You know what I’m sayin’?” |
Big Daddy Kane, the Notorious B.I.G., Salt N Pepa, LL Cool J, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and the film, Boyz N Da Hood, will also be honored during the event. |
