ICE CUBE COMMITTED TO HIS HOUSE
Ice Cube can relate to the frustrations of contractors getting the job done in Are We Done Yet? moving his own wife Kim Jackson and four children into his dream house in Encino, California. |
Cube bought the house in ’97 and he’s still making repairs on it to this day. |
“Oh yeah. You know the house that I’m in now we gutted it out and we replaced and did the floors over. It’s just never ending, never ending. I think anybody with a house gotta realize that it’s a lifelong project and even when you think you’re done something breaks down, wear and tear. You’re always going to have contractors and repairmen all around the house. Our house is pretty tight. You know it’s just dealing with contractors. They never move as fast as they say and it always costs more than they estimated.” |
Despite the headaches of maintaining a house, Cube says it’s necessary because there’s no place like home. |
“Yeah it has a message that a house is just a house and you got to work at it to be a home. You got to work on it to make it your home. People who haven’t moved into a home think they’re gonna move into a house and everything is just gonna be perfect and it’s all gonna lay out right has got another thing coming. A house is just a house until you make it a home.” |
Are We Done Yet? is based on the 1948 Cary Grant classic Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House. |
