IAN MCSHANE SEEKS OUT DRACULA COUNTRY
Ian McShane visited Dracula’s haunts while filming in Romania. |
Deadwood star Ian McShane got a taste of the undead while filming The Seeker in Romania, home to Count Dracula. |
Ian dined at the vampire’s restaurant, a popular tourist attraction. |
“The sequence with the English village, yeah we shot that up in Sighisoara which is sort of the Carpathian Mountains which is Dracula country so we ate in Dracula’s restaurant you know a couple of times, drank some blood. It’s hilarious. You walk on cobble streets that Dracula once walked.” |
Romania which doubled for the cobble stoned streets of Victorian England where the seeker fights the forces of the dark to save the world also had modern lodging but Ian preferred the old country. |
“You have to climb up to this sort of old town which is called Cobble Streets and it’s very natural, very pretty. Of course they put us thinking we’re modern in the new village which was boring down below where every time a truck went through town the entire hotel shook, but we were only there for two nights. If you like hiking it’s the place to be.” |
Ian will be fixing all the cars in the upcoming film Death Race and then back on Broadway for a month to do The Homecoming by Harold Pinter. The Seeker is currently playing in theaters |
