HUGH JACKMAN HOOKED ON ANIMATION FOR FLUSHED AWAY
(VIDEO) Hugh Jackman got hooked on animation when he got the call to voice Roddy, the mouse in Flushed Away. |
When Hugh Jackman got the call to voice the posh British pet mouse Roddy who gets flushed away, he immediately said yes just to work with the same animation team who brought us Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run. |
Set in the sewers of London Hugh took on the persona of a James Bondian rodent who teams up with Kate Winslet’s Rita, the rat to escape the evil clutches of Toad, an equal opportunity rat hater. Hugh talks about the experience he had doing animation. |
“I think they are the most talented people in this business, in the animation business. I find them hysterical. And then when I read the script I thought they’ve done it again. It was just so funny. To be considered to be part of it to me is an honor because there is no accident why these guys have won multiple Oscars. They’re the best at what they do.” |
The story of Flushed Away doubled as the perfect bedtime story for Hugh’s son Oscar while he was making the film. Looks like Hugh got hooked on animation as he’s also in the upcoming Happy Feet as a penguin named Memphis who sings like Elvis Presley in a duet with Nicole Kidman doing her best Norma Jean. |
“What I love about doing this is first of all I will say it was harder work than I thought it was going to be. It’s very exacting because as an actor you get used to using your eyes and your face and your expressions. And even though your expressions are duplicated you have to get so much over with your voice. And I really enjoy that. It’s also very freeing not to be worried about camera angles or restrictions of the movie set, hair and make-up. You just get in there and adlib. Sometimes the best moments come out of just mucking around.” |
