HUGH JACKMAN DRAINED BY THE FOUNTAIN
Australian star Hugh Jackman doesn’t like to be very far away from his family when he’s shooting a film so his wife and two children travel with him. But because he knew The Fountain would be physically and emotionally draining he made an exception. |
One exhausting scene had Hugh crying uncontrollably. He reveals the best advice he got from fellow Aussie Geoffrey Rush on how to let the tears flow naturally. |
“This is the first time I worked without my family being there because we always sort of travel together. I said, ‘dear I have a feeling with this one there’s not gonna be much left of me at the end of the day’ and there wasn’t. I’d wake up in the morning and do yoga for an hour and a half or so and then I’d work all day and then I’d collapse. I’d collapse at lunch time often. It was an exhaustion that was really rewarding.” |
The Fountain opens Friday in theaters. |
“You use whatever you can. I remember hearing a great story by Geoffrey Rush who had to cry in a scene in a play so he was experimenting with different ways. So finally near the end just before he’d walk out on stage he used to pluck out a couple of nose hairs and he’d get that first moment of a tear and then he’d go on and start crying. So sometimes it’s very technical.” |
