HUGH AND DREW MAKE MUSIC TOGETHER
Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore made a great team as a songwriting duo in Music and Lyrics. |
Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore become an unlikely songwriting duo in Music & Lyrics when Hugh’s aging ’80s pop star is commissioned to write the next hit song and discovers his plant caretaker Drew can turn a phrase. |
This was the first time they worked together and their chemistry made for beautiful music. |
[Drew] “I would say the very same thing I would say behind Hugh’s back which is I adore him and I loved working with him. He was very professional and cares so much about getting it right and making it the best that it can be.” |
Hugh jokes they were different as night and day. |
“This is all lies, because I’m not easy. She’s full of sunshine.” [Drew] “He is intense sometimes.” [Hugh] “Yeah, exactly. I’m miserable and very anxious but silent on the set and she’s very, very buoyant and full of life, brings friends with her, sunshine everywhere. And so it was a terrible mismatch but she was very tolerant. [Drew] “That said we did become dear friends and he is a very funny, lovely caring person. And I had a great time and my heart absolutely loves Hubert now.” |
Hugh and Drew do all their own singing in Music & Lyrics with songs penned by Fountains of Wayne co-founder Adam Schlesinger. |
