HOW BRATZ WERE BORN

The Bratz reveal how the name was born including using a ‘z’ instead of an ‘s.’

The Bratz are a group of high school friends who love and support each other through thick and thin. The four friends Yasmin, Sasha, Jade and Cloe are starring together in their first major motion picture Bratz: The Movie named for them.

Yasmin, the aspiring journalist in the group talks about how they got their name.

“We were all at lunch one day and we were all talking and Cloe came by. It was when the girls had finally convinced me to do the talent show. I’m like, fine I’ll do it but we need a name. So Cloe comes up, she’s pulling her lunch and without even realizing it she’s like, ‘hi Bratz,’ And we’re all like, ‘wait a minute that could work.’”

Jade, the fashionista reveals how Bratz with a ‘z’ was born.

“Bratz is a name that Meredith called us when we ruined her party. By accident it wasn’t on purpose but we did, we ruined her party. And she just yelled at us, ‘you ruined my party. You guys are a bunch of brats.’ Hey you know what yeah, we are brats. So I make the jackets that we wear when we perform and I’m making the jacket and I have Brats and I have the ‘s.’ I’m like, ‘the ‘s’ there’s something about it, it’s not right so I pick it up, I turn it around, I snip it, turn it into a ‘z.’ The Bratz are born.”

Jon Voight stars as Principal Dimley whose daughter Meredith is trying to break up the Bratz.
